WORLD INFO.

MOUSAI & MELETE

General Info.
Mousai is a small planet in the constellation of Lyra. Although its people is immortal, it seems to be cursed with an inability to produce beauty and art on its own. Melete is Mousai's capital and its only city. Beyond its borders, there is nothing but yellowish white sand, a desert that forms the only visible horizon. Outside the large glass hothouses that disturb the otherwise sloping, low cityscape, no fauna lives and no flora grows. Within these hothouses, the Mousai people grow their food and breed their animals - all types and breeds that should be recognisable to Inspirations that origin from Earth; potatoes, grapes, cats, dogs and horses for example.

Architecture & Attractions.
The architecture in the majority of the city is alike the architecture one finds in the streets of Ancient Rome and Greece, the only exception being the Museum and the various attractions that begin appearing within Melete as more and more Exhibitions are held. Currently, such attractions count the Colosseum and the Roman Forum along with the Basilique du Sacré Coeur de Montmartre. Most recently, Versailles and its gardens have appeared.

Climate & Astronomy.
Weather-wise, Mousai is generally dry and hot with infrequent rain showers. In the sky, one finds the large, reddish-orange sun during the day and five pale moons of various sizes at night. Many of the known star constellations that can be seen from Earth can also be spotted from Mousai, although the location and arrangement of their positions in the night sky are different here. Many planets and stars invisible from Earth can easily be seen from Mousai.

POPULATION & INSPIRATIONS

The Mousai People.
The Mousai people are immortal. In appearance, they are similar to old Greek sculptures with white skin that seems to almost shine. They stand tall, even the women close to three metres (9.8 feet) in height, the men often taller. There is something stiff and cold to their appearance, almost dead, although they seem to liven up whenever they enter the Museum on Saturdays. When approached outside the Museum, they will most likely seem aloof and distanced, but even so they would never refuse to help an Inspiration who needs or requests it.

The Muses.
The Muses are the leaders of the Mousai people and the ones that run the Museum. They are sisters and their personas are shrouded in mystery. When researching the history of the planet, the Muses seem to simply always have been there, since the very beginning, if not before. Wherefrom they came is unknown and what powers exactly they possess never becomes fully obvious to anyone but themselves. Their original form is similar to the appearance of the rest of the Mousai population, but they are shapeshifters and each individual sister has a preferred shape that she takes when interacting with Inspirations. In the notations of former Inspirations, one may find questions as to whether the Muses may be deities with the Museum functioning as their temple where the Inspirations and the visiting Mousai people take the roles of offerings and worshippers respectively.

Inspirations.
'Inspirations' is the term Applied to all external citizens that the Muses have brought to Mousai. They come from various planets, places, times and dimensions, but all have a strong creative talent in common. The Inspirations live at the Museum's first and second floors that are constructed like apartment storeys, in an apartment that has been assigned to them upon their arrival. As well as an apartment, they have been assigned a showroom on the Museum's ground floor where they exhibit their work every Saturday. Inspirations are not confined to the Museum; they can move freely around Melete to gather inspiration and creative input for their work, but it is not allowed for Inspirations to permanently live anywhere but within the Museum's walls. For communication, Inspirations are given a phone with their apartment key and showroom number with which they can keep in touch with their fellow Inspirations if they are not available for a face to face meeting.

Arrival.
Upon arrival, Inspirations wake up to find themselves in an empty, white room on the ground floor of the Museum: the showroom that the Muses have chosen for them. The Inspirations themselves have been clad in a white tunic and the room around them is bare, except for a thick, yellow envelope lying at their naked feet. The handwriting on the front is elegant, it reads their full name in whatever language they are most fluent. When they open it, the first thing to greet them is a cell phone, in its inbox awaits them two unread messages. The first is their welcome message, the second the theme for the current exhibition. Having read the first message, when they look in the envelope again, they will find the key to their apartment upstairs. They are ready.
